This is not your typical devotional.
I’m a holistic health practitioner. 95% of the people who come into my office are coming because of mental/emotional stress. They come in because they feel like something’s missing, something’s wrong. My job is to reflect wholeness back to them, to guide them to slow down their brain waves, open their heart, change their energy so they can see what they couldn't see before.
I once had a woman in her 80’s come in for a massage. She was grumpy, slouched and furrowed in the brow, accusatory, bitter, suspicious. We had never met before. She was telling me everything she didn’t like–what she wanted me to do, not do. She was in pain.
My job is not to fix, it’s to love. My job is not to do, it’s to Be. My job is not to change, it’s to wake up and foster what’s dormant inside.
So, I nod and leave the room to give her privacy to get on the table. I work in silence. I open my heart and fill my hands with love. We were swimming in a sea of wholeness during that massage. Her battery was being charged, her tank filled up, her software being updated, her radio station being tuned to love and wholeness, her natural state.
Afterwards, I stepped out again and when I returned, she had returned... home to her heart, her true self. She had completely changed. Her face was soft, her body stood straight and light, her eyes sparkled, her energy radiant.
She came really close to me, though this time more out of curiosity than suspicion, and said, “I feel wonderful! and you look... different.” She was kind of studying, wondering.
With an understanding smile, I said, “YOU look different… Might it be that you feel different so you’re seeing differently?”
And this is the point of this book. This is the point of spending time each day devoted to waking up and connecting to your natural state.
Imagine the trajectory of that woman’s day—feeling differently, seeing differently. Was she kinder? Was she more patient? Was she in less pain? Was her day easier, more peaceful, filled with more wonder?
What might change in your life if you devoted a few minutes of your precious time to changing your energy, to feeling differently, to seeing differently, to being more heart-centered?
You don’t have to get a massage or have a spa day to do so. This book is to help you enter that state right where you are, by bringing your attention to where you're putting your attention because where attention goes, energy flows.
Over 40 days, through daily reflections that blend insight, story, and guidance, you’ll be led on an inner journey to replenish your energy by waking up what's already within you. These aren’t lessons to master. This isn’t a “Feel-Whole-in-40 Days” formula. This is simply an opportunity to practice, a few minutes a day, being more of who you already are for 40 days —because we become what we practice the most.
Just as we eat, sleep, and drink water each day, this is an invitation to fuel your tank by spending a few minutes connecting with your greatest renewable resource — your heart and its intelligence.
We begin with a week on the foundations of wholeness, followed by weeks exploring physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual awareness. The final days are about weaving it all together — embodying the insights you’ve cultivated so you feel clearer, more connected, and more aligned with living your life as an art.
Whether you begin at the new year, in a season of transition, or simply when you feel the pull, this devotional is here to meet you exactly where you are — a companion for anyone and everyone longing to feel more whole, more of the time.
This book is a gesture from my heart to yours — from one fellow adventurer to another — as an equal, as a friend, as someone who needs these reminders as much as anyone else on the great road trip of life.
